Never Before in Canine History has the Future of a New and Developing Dog Breed Been in the Hands of So Many - and in Such Jeopardy.

ALFA is a global entity embracing  a new concept which addresses the concerns of breeders and fanciers who have grave concerns at the direction being taken by Associations which see fit to depart from the vision and program of the breed founders.  If it is not broken, why try to 'fix' it?

Associations/Registries were originally established with a charter to protect the breed as developed by the Australian Founders over the past twenty two years.  Over recent years these organizations have decided to do things their own way, and in many cases openly express their disagreement with the Breed Founders on the way the Australian Labradoodle  should continue to be bred.

The word 'integrity' has lost its meaning, with the principle of one of these Associations secretly operating a cross breed puppy farm along with their own Labradoodle breeding program, to supply their own petshop with puppies for sale.

"Grading" schemes and debate over infusions, are only a part of the practices which could see the ruin of the very qualities which has made the Australian Labradoodle so beloved across the world.

Mis-information about the  Australian Labradoodle abounds on the internet and this causes a lot of confusion, not only amongst breeders themselves but also to families who are doing their due diligence and researching the breed before making the life changing decision to bring a dog or second dog into their homes.

Putting it bluntly, The Australian Labradoodle is suffering as a result of its own popularity as many dog breeds have done before it.  An ever increasing flood of brand new breeders continues to rise, whose interest lies not in the integrity of the breed but in making money from the use of the name of the breed. Until the Australian Labradoodle is 'recognized' by mainstream Kennel Clubs, it is open slather for others to do as they please.

The 'ASD' symbol was introduced by the founders in an attempt to protect the authentic Australian Labradoodle, but mis-use of this untrackable system resulted in even more confusion. Hence, ALFA.

ALFA recognizes that there may be beautiful breeding dogs who have  a non Australian root stock dog somewhere in their pedigrees.  ALFA does not want to throw out the baby with the bathwater, and encourages breeders with exceptional individuals  in this category, to submit their pedigrees and photos to  the Registrar who will determine their eligibility on a case by case basis.
